The name of my site is Ronin, which is the japanese term/name for a samurai that does not have a master. I thought it would be a nice short name, and since I am also interested in Japan and japanese culture also would be fun name to use for my personal website.
My main hobby is a martial art called Aikido, which I have studied since August 1990 and been an instructor in since 1993. I am a 5th Dan (black belt) and have the instructors title of Shidoin. I am the head coach of Aikido at Malmö Budo Club and was a member of the board for Swedish Aikido Federation during 2013 and 2014 . For information on my background in Aikido, see my aikido CV.
Aikido is a japanese martial art that has it roots in the martial arts of the Samurai. It contains armed (sword & staff) and unarmed techniques and challenges you strive and grow as as person taking the path of aikido. If you want to see what aikido looks like I recommend looking at some of the clips I have on my YouTube account, featuring me doing aikido as well as aikido clips I enjoy watching.
In my spare time I also enjoy watching movies, playing boardgames and card games, as well as computer gaming (PS4 & PC) and reading books. I also enjoy exercising, hiking, dancing, visiting restaurants and joining my friends for a beer or a malt whisky at one of the pubs in Malmö. I have taken an interest in malt whisky and enjoy attending whisky fairs and whisky tastings a few times a year. Together with a friend of mine Anders Sandin, we have for more than a decade been arranging an annual whiskytasting event for some of our friends and colleages.
I have a keen interest in photography and filming. I have a photo site called Shashinronin.com, that contains some my photos from Sweden Rock Festival 2011 — 2019. I have combinded the japanese word for photograph ‘Shashin’ with the name ‘Ronin’ from my personal website and named the site ‘Shashin Ronin’.
I have also a lot of experience of video editing – both in my profession as course developer and for aikido videos, I have filmed, edited and produced several videos from aikido seminars, and here are a couple of videos that I have edited; ‘Swedish Aikido 50 year anniversary exhibition‘, ‘Swedish National Aikido Exhibition Team 2nd nov 2013‘ and ‘Swedish National Aikido Exhibition 2014‘.
